Sustainability

Sustainability is in the center of our design process and part of our core values

Without compromise, we put sustainable, responsible practices above everything else, creating limited-quantity pieces that are good for the planet, and timelessly crafted to be worn forever. It is an ongoing commitment that we make every day, to minimize our brand’s social and environmental impact with each decision.

Sourcing materials

Yvalise garments are limited in quantity and are created using high-quality, responsibly sourced, organic and deadstock fabrics. We are working with luxury sustainable suppliers, aiming to reduce waste, carbon emissions, and overall resource consumption. We strongly believe that longevity is the key to greener fashion, which is why we create pieces with timeless design, relevance, and craftsmanship. Instead of short-term, seasonal trends and mass-production, we focus on quality, functionality, careful choice of materials, and the smallest details in production. For our woven pieces, we use sustainable Mohair wool and work with local artisans, supporting their community and preserving traditional craftsmanship. In our collections we use premium materials such as wool and silk due to their durability, quality, and longevity, we do not use leather, fur, exotic skins, or feathers.

Production, People & Craftsmanship

We ensure to work and build strong relationships  with manufacturers and suppliers that share our values and treat their employees fairly and respectfully. We collaborate with multiple local production companies all over Serbia, as well as small, artisanal ateliers that are a big part of our creative, sustainable creation process. We produce with minimal to zero waste, meaning that every piece of material is wisely used. Garments are carefully hand-crafted, and manufactured with the highest quality, while paying strong attention to detail.

Printing

Regular printing has an extremely negative environmental impact: energy consumption, chemical usage, waste generation…

While ensuring our pieces are of a premium quality, we print limited-quantities of materials, minimizing waste, while using energy-efficient technology. We use biodegradable inks and work with natural, locally supplied materials. All Yvalise prints are created with eco-friendly, water-base fabric dyes that are not hazardous and are free of toxins, certified with OEKO-TEX Eco Passport and GOTS.

All our prints are made with ecologically friendly water-based dyes and biodegradable inks which are non-hazardous, toxic-free and certified with an OEKO-TEX Eco Passport

GOTS is the leading standard for organic textiles. It assures you that the fibres from which the fabrics or other products are made were grown organically, without using insecticides or pesticides. In addition it is your assurancce that the most ecological and socially responsible methods have been used throughout the entire production process. This means amoungs (many) other things :
-no GMO,
-no harmful chemiccals,
-no child labour
-no dyes or inks that have been classified as allergenic

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certificate is one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety. You can be sure that the fabrics marked with the OEKO-TEX logo are made with social and environmental responsibility in mind.

Packaging

To further minimize waste, we minimize packaging and produce in-house. We did not want our customers having their Yvalise products packed in plastic non-sustainable bags. Therefore, our packaging consists of hand-made premium canvas bags, produced in out atelier, from our deadstock fabrics and leftovers. Each one is unique, artistically designed and reusable.
